How Often Should You Visit the Dentist?

Published · By The A Clinics Team

The general rule is to see your dentist twice a year for a check-up and cleaning. These regular visits catch decay and gum inflammation early, when treatment is simple and inexpensive.

Some people need to come more often: smokers, people with diabetes, anyone with a history of gum disease, and pregnant patients. In these cases your dentist may suggest a visit every three to four months.

Between visits, the basics are brushing twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste and flossing daily. If you notice bleeding gums, pain or sensitivity, don’t wait for your next appointment — book a visit.
